Great instruction as usual Matt! Can you show how to recover from impact with a strike using these? As you know they’re are two sections connected and making impact changes directional strikes very quickly

How can you spar with nunchucks (or most weapons)?? Martial arts training needs to used in non-compliant sparring to learn what works in the real world and to practice for the real world. We train weapons forms, blocks and strikes, but that cannot be enough.

There are hard foam covered chucks that you can spar with. They aren’t exactly like the real thing but better than just forms and technique as you said. Thanks!

I was waiting for something to happen with the network , it was getting a bit ridiculous...Great lesson Sensei..I always love training with you when you're teaching me the nunchaku..I picked up the nunchakus high school and I was taught Bruce Lee's techniques. I also appreciate training with different nylon cord lengths and different chain links lengths ; Swivel of course..I also like the 3 sectional staff .! I am getting a good workout for my upper body , I am also training with my Sai's...Excellent lesson Sensei and Thank you Sir .! I am very grateful for your training and techniques.!

Thanks for the video! You make these look cool and fun. I doubt that I'd ever become proficient, but that's not the big impediment to my trying nunchucks. The big problem for me is that I'm having too much fun with the staff and clubs to branch into the chucks with the energy I have right now.

I use two 25" Jatoba (Brazilian wood) sticks to perform these, which is a nicely weighted wood. Once I've completed this workout, I switch over to my lighter variety of Arnis, Kali & Escrima sticks for my daily stick fighting workouts. One of the best workouts to keep my 68 year old body in tune and functional.

Thanks for the video. As always, I have multiple comments. First, I was happy to see someone else from Wyoming in the chat. I missed the video because I was outside doing my swinging club routine. I forget what weight I'm using. I think that these are right around three pounds. I need to go back to 3-3/4 pound clubs, but I like the way that these feel. These also look less clunky. I'm still making plans to build a five-pound set. I'm not yet sure how that will look, but I want to do it. When I rest between the swinging club exercises, I tend to do spins with a small staff of some kind. Today, I was using a three-foot walking stick. That gives my muscles some relief from the weight but keeps me moving. The big correction that I'll make from this video is that I don't move the club up and down my centerline when I'm doing the alternating lifts at the beginning. I tend to swing them upwards over my shoulders just as I did when I was swinging them together. I think I found a way around the Spring Tee ban on PO Box orders. If my new shirt arrives in a week or so, then I'll know that it worked. If you are still interested in doing private lessons through FaceTime, I'm interested in trying to do that. I'll have to buy or make a way to attach my phone to a tripod. I do very little video stuff with my phone, so I've never tried to attach it to anything. I have PayPal if I could send you payment that way.

This may sound silly, but I use two claw hammers (carefully) like Kali sticks. It's cheep legal and a hell of a workout. $4.00 per hammer. $8.00 investment and if I ever need a hammer ... I have one.
