Can you carry a cane for self defense?
Yikes
thanks for this tutorial sir 🎉
Hi Matt! The Nunchucks are my favorite workout. 😀
I started learning nunchaku 6 months ago by watching your videos. Now you're getting me started on arnis
Great instruction as usual Matt! Can you show how to recover from impact with a strike using these? As you know they’re are two sections connected and making impact changes directional strikes very quickly
thanks Matt
How can you spar with nunchucks (or most weapons)?? Martial arts training needs to used in non-compliant sparring to learn what works in the real world and to practice for the real world. We train weapons forms, blocks and strikes, but that cannot be enough.
There are hard foam covered chucks that you can spar with. They aren’t exactly like the real thing but better than just forms and technique as you said. Thanks!
I was waiting for something to happen with the network , it was getting a bit ridiculous...Great lesson Sensei..I always love training with you when you're teaching me the nunchaku..I picked up the nunchakus high school and I was taught Bruce Lee's techniques. I also appreciate training with different nylon cord lengths and different chain links lengths ; Swivel of course..I also like the 3 sectional staff .! I am getting a good workout for my upper body , I am also training with my Sai's...Excellent lesson Sensei and Thank you Sir .! I am very grateful for your training and techniques.!
Thanks for the video! You make these look cool and fun. I doubt that I'd ever become proficient, but that's not the big impediment to my trying nunchucks. The big problem for me is that I'm having too much fun with the staff and clubs to branch into the chucks with the energy I have right now.
😂 bless his soul.
Save your money and use a stick all he is doing is swinging, bruce you ain’t
You can close them and strike too... Sensei chess
I learned that in 70's watching kung fu theater in Houston TX. And I have defended myself dozens and dozens of times. And thanks to shop class I've made some truly sweet chucks.❤😂
I use two 25" Jatoba (Brazilian wood) sticks to perform these, which is a nicely weighted wood. Once I've completed this workout, I switch over to my lighter variety of Arnis, Kali & Escrima sticks for my daily stick fighting workouts. One of the best workouts to keep my 68 year old body in tune and functional.
I wish someone showed me this decades ago
Never too late. Thanks!
thanks Matt
Thanks for being here Tim!
Thanks for the video. As always, I have multiple comments. First, I was happy to see someone else from Wyoming in the chat. I missed the video because I was outside doing my swinging club routine. I forget what weight I'm using. I think that these are right around three pounds. I need to go back to 3-3/4 pound clubs, but I like the way that these feel. These also look less clunky. I'm still making plans to build a five-pound set. I'm not yet sure how that will look, but I want to do it. When I rest between the swinging club exercises, I tend to do spins with a small staff of some kind. Today, I was using a three-foot walking stick. That gives my muscles some relief from the weight but keeps me moving. The big correction that I'll make from this video is that I don't move the club up and down my centerline when I'm doing the alternating lifts at the beginning. I tend to swing them upwards over my shoulders just as I did when I was swinging them together. I think I found a way around the Spring Tee ban on PO Box orders. If my new shirt arrives in a week or so, then I'll know that it worked. If you are still interested in doing private lessons through FaceTime, I'm interested in trying to do that. I'll have to buy or make a way to attach my phone to a tripod. I do very little video stuff with my phone, so I've never tried to attach it to anything. I have PayPal if I could send you payment that way.
This may sound silly, but I use two claw hammers (carefully) like Kali sticks. It's cheep legal and a hell of a workout. $4.00 per hammer. $8.00 investment and if I ever need a hammer ... I have one.
No. I love that idea! Thanks!
That's very cool. I've used a two-pound sledge in the same way.
You all talk about self-defense from an ordinary person. But an ordinary person will not fight. Usually a fight is started by people with boxing, wrestling, karate skills...
42" sluger, works really well
Good choice Sam!
@@pasquinilli just joking Matt. I'm 70 and obviously carrying a batt is out of question.
How long should be the stick ? I find too many and i dont know what is the better lenght
Mine is 26”
Thank you !@@pasquinilli
Good video thanks for the video ❤
Thank you!
Most excellent practical advice and techniques
Thank you Thad!!
Self defense, y'all.
Yes, and it’s all self-defense!
...can this guy strike 2,3 time or just once...
As many times as needed
show full speed please
Will do thanks
@@pasquinilli thank you! Id like to see the bone shattering power combined with this type of fluid and seamless looped animation.
thanks Matt
Thank you Tim!
Got mine, two of them! :D
That’s great Thad!
@@pasquinilli You can let Canemasters know that it was "your fault" that I bought the canes from them! ;-)
always wanted to learn this ! i even bought staffs with the intent of learning and possibly carve them but have not done as of yet!
Awesome! Get started now! Thank you!
Rip off the top of his head? Really bro? Cut the roids out, theyre fucking with your brain
I wasted so much time on Arnis when I could have learned this all along... I feel so stupid...
lol. Arnis is a great foundation!
@@pasquinilli Agree completely, but it doesn't teach you how to pry open the back of someone's skull with a hooked blunt thing. I feel, deeply, that this is a technique worth exploring.
Ziet er mooi uit, maar als je iets raakt ben je ook je stok kwijt, meer voor show dus
🎉
Sounds entertaining
huh?
I bought a wooden, 6 ft. dowl at Home Depot and there are various circumferences from which to choose. Want it a bit shorter, cut it.
Awesome. Thanks
What's with the shirt?
You might be too young to get it.
@@pasquinilli I'm 40, enlighten me.
Bro what about 5.11 baton 32 inches one?!! Can be a good option for self defense kindly answer...
Yes. It is good
@@pasquinilli MAN can I ask a question? That why you past rarely?
Why is this hard for me
How short is this guy? 😂
Hahahah. Me or the imaginary bad guy? Hhaha

Appreciate the video man! Just getting started and your videos are very helpful.
If I’m going to a store and just need a couple of items that wouldn’t require a buggy, how would you carry it in one hand while you need another for your wallet and the other to hold the item(s)?
Excellent technique Sensei , I continue to train with my Two canes , Cane Masters Stealth Traveler . .! Thank You Sensei. Great video
